Science Fair Ideas

I'm thinking about doing a Science Fair Project this year that involves my Saltwater Setup. Does anyone have an idea I could experiment with without putting my setup in great danger? haha

ps I have a 40gal reef with a 10g sump

also there is a budget, I wouldn't want to spend more than 200 most likely

Breed rotifers and phyto. You could document it here as well. Look in the breeding forum for info.

before vodka and after dosing vodka. But you have to be VERY VERY careful. It would be cheap. whats a bottle of vodka and some testing supplies going to cost you? 50-100 bucks? You could even compare vodka dosing to vinegar or sugar. You could also do something like.....what chems could be used to kill curly cue nems

Might be an issue if this is for a school. Drinking age and all.

I like the breeding rotifers idea. Whats the most efficient way. What is the optimal dose ratio of green water to rotifiers. I like that too. Im trying to think of something else. Keep us posted.

My son did one on the nitrogen cycle one year and one on how a protein skimmer works the next.

You could always do something with live rock, dieoff and plotting all the cycles of ammonia, nitrate and nitrites with the chemistry thrown in. This would be fun and really cement the fundamentals of why it takes so long and what is going on in the tank.
