Save the day

I have accually been trying to get part time work at petco in the fish dept. While I'm new to the reef keeping I have been keeping freshwater fish for a number of years. I was thinking maybe I could help mat least one store out. I would definatly try to keep them out of the reef business as there tanks are very small. But then maybe I could get them to finance a phat display tank so my hobby wouldnt have to come out of my own pocket(as if I had any money in it).

Which Petco? The one in Alpharetta was pretty NASTY the time I went in it looking for meds. Prompted me to send an email to their head office to express my concerns. I got a "pat on the head" email back from them explaining that fish sometimes get sick in new systems etc.

When I emailed them back and told them that I'm IN the business, and that I KNOW ALL ABOUT new tanks and cycling, and suggested that not overloading a new system with fish might be a more humane approach, they never responded back. Petco will never see a dime of my money ever again. I wouldn't have bought SW livestock there, and I told them that, but I have bought meds and dry goods, not to mention dog and cat supplies. NEVER AGAIN. They lost more money than they realized when they peeved me off.

I've found that most of the more serious sw hobbyists seem to prefer specialty stores that specialize in reef/marine.

Good luck....with Petco you've got a lot of odds stacked against you.

BTW, your handle looks somewhat familiar....have you joined us at an ARC meeting? If not, the link is in my signature....
