sand question

Ok I have a SSB, but am going to remove it and go with BB for about a year to see what the difference will be, no I dont want this thread to turn into a SB versus BB so please dont. lol, I have already read all of the threads I could find on both, I just want to know if its ok to just remove all the sand with one water change or should I remove a little at a time???? not sure if there is any different effects on the tank either way...

thanks
steve

I would do it w/one WC. Depending on water quality you might have to do another WC in a few days.

I would also get it done in one shot so that it is, hopefully, less stressful on all of your tank inhabitants.

Good luck with the switch.

I got rid of mine in 1 shot and everything in the tank was fine, but I didn't have any sps at that time. My lps and my fish and inverts all survived.

I agree with all at once.....BUT, depending on depth, age, and condition of it I might suggest removing all of the inhabitants along with the majority fo the water to rubbermaid tubs before you disturb it.......then suck it out along with the rest of the water then put the water and inhabitiants back in along with the new water to same specs and temp to make up for what you tossed

If there is just one inch, then do as Bill has suggested (Fly Guy).
