Salifert Mag test
Ok as some of you may remember a few days ago i was getting a test result of 2500ppm with my salifert mag kit. So i want to a friends house that has the same Salifert kit, i took some water from my tank, he tested it with his Salifert kit and got 1260ppm for Mag. So i said ok, i tested my water with my kit when i was there, and i got the same thing. which was strange, i thought my reagants were junk. So then i came home tested again and then i got 2500ppm again. So the only thing i could think of, is when i was there i used his directions from his mag kit. and not mine. My directions say to add 3ml of water in the test vial with the 5ml syringe. I dont even have a 5ml syringe that came with that test kit. only a 2ml syringe, and the tiny syringe to use for the MG-3 reagant.
Could someone that uses this kit please tell me how many ml's of water their directions say to use??
I think this is my problem, when i tested there it seemed like there was less water in the vial at his house...
thanks for the help

If mag was that high you would have lots of other perams off (to get it that high you would have to literally dump in lots of epsom or mag flake). The mag affects cal and alk. At least you got it sorted.

I really liked the readings I got from that, but I found it to be a pain after a while and just went back to straight IO.

It doesnt seem that bad so far going between the 2 brands. The only thing i am having trouble with right now is with the IO doesnt seem to mix as easy as the Oceanic, so i have to mix twice as hard when adding the IO, and still seem to see a few crystals floating in the water after adding the IO. It seems like my powerhead is getting the rest of it tho... lets keep fingers crossed that i like these readings.
The Reef Crystals seemed alittle low on Calcuim to me around 350-380. So hopefully these 2 together will give me around 420-430
