Salifert and expiration dates

I just won this item for $32. I have been using salifert kits for about 6 months now exclusively, to be honest i hardly test anymore except for alkalinity and calcium. I have a ph meter.

Have you guys who have been using salifert for this noticed any particular ones losing effectiveness faster with age that others??

I have a Salifert alkalinity kit that I received a a gift at the 1999 MACNA that was accidentally packed away and forgotten until just recently. I ran it in tandem with a new Salifert three times, and lthough it was off by a small (~13%) bit, it would hve been better than nothing. I am not using it, but in a pinch, I would have. I cannot speak to the issue in relation to the rest of the test kits over time. I use mine up quickly enough that I'm not too worried about expiry with these kits.

now if we talk about pH buffer standards, especially multi-use ones, THAT is a different matter...

Thanks Tom. Actually now that i think about it. Side by side tests with new ones is really the only way to know if the old ones are functional or not. A lot depends on the circumstances in which they were stored i assume. See...with your guidance i answered my own stupid question.
