Sailfin Tang Sick

Hey Guys,
I think that my sailfin is in a little bit of trouble, right above his eyes there appears to be a small chunk of flesh missing, and it is red. His coloring looks fine but he just sorta sits right near the bottom. I am concerned. Any advice would be a help. thank you

Sorry, I'm a bit visual, maybe you could post a pic or better explain to injury because if it is just a chunk it may sound like it was attacked (I dont know what you have in your tank) I hope to help you further

Is he still eating? Sounds like a mechanical injury - which will most likely heal on its own as long as it doesn't get a secondary infection. One of my tangs currently has a scrape on it (puffer?!) but it's healing a bit each day and the wound has stayed clean.

If the fish is otherwise behaving normally, I'd watch and wait, but watch for signs of aggression from other tankmates (who lives with him?) How long have you had the sailfin?

If he's eating, boost his food with some garlic to stimulate his appetite and his immune system.

HTH

The poor guy died last night I feel so bad, I think that the SL crab in there was picking on him because I found him minus his eyes, thats odd. Thanks for trying to help, I am really bummed about losing this fish.

Sigh. Sorry you lost him.

Eyes are one of the first things to go with scavengers.
