safe paint for pvc inside tank?
I'm wanting to paint some pvc pipes inside my display tank and wasn't sure what was "reef safe". I have heard that Krylon Fusion is safe. Anyone with ideas? BTW, I was painting the pvc black to match the background.

i think i have a couple of pieces of ABS in my tank. they are adaptors for the CLS system. i have not had a problem with them, but then they are in odd places so that i may never see a problem till something falls off.
i would be curious to know if it is the SW or the UV that does ABS in. i would think the UV from the bulbs would be more destructive than SW on a plastic.

i seen a good idea online some where which really helps by hiding the PVC pipe it mainly uses PVC, dry sand, and some silcone. just waste the pvc pipe and use a thin layer on PVC pipe and roll it in the sand and you can repeat this to make sure it is completly covered and wait a couple hours between layers and give it a good 36 hours to dry fully and then just rinse to remove and thing loose and you are done
thats just an idea i thought i would pass on

OK, in my quest to put out the right info... I poked around and ABS is reef safe, but cannot handle high pressure applications. it also needs different cement to adhere properly.

One thread I read one guy stated that he had used regular cement with no issues... But it looks like weld-on 40 is designed to adhere abs to pvc as well as other applications. I'm sure a trip to the home center may have just what is needed.
However, as long as it's not a high pressure application, I can't see why normal pvc cement would not hold. Especially for drains

used krylon fusion on my drain plumbing and my spraybar inside the tank, no problems at all, except it seems to be a coralline magnet.

OK, we all agree, Krylon Fusion and ABS plastic are both reef safe! Thanks for the answers everyone! I'll pick up some Krylon tonight.
