Question

Safe overflow protection ?

Well with the new 125 up and running I ran into my first problem, not a big one but... Anyway I was in the basement doing some things with the sump and low and behold there was a yellow watchman gobie watching me. Apparently he had taken the water slide to the basement. So I put him back in the tank and watched as he did it again. Not 10 minutes later ! So I made a screen cover for the overflow. So here's my question, I made my cover with the only thing that I could find that would do the job and looked good. It's vinyl screen that is made for covering rain gutters. It comes in a roll and is about 8" wide, it's semi flexible and I just need to know if anyone has used this and is it safe/ nontoxic/nonleaching etc ! If this is a problem let me know what I should be using, I need to keep the water park closed if possible.

pirate,

don't know if that will be a problem or not. i always worry that outdoor stuff is treated with something to prevent algea growth. so, i use this:

pf-FL1800-15 1-1/2 inch Intake Screen MPT, black.

work great and only my nudibranchs have ever made it through them into the sump. you do have to clean them monthly

I just built a plenum. It was recommended to use fiberglass screen door material. I bought the stuff at Hommie Depot.

It sounds very similar to the screen that comes standard with the CPR overflow units.
