Hi Everyone! While I was watching the gold medal game between Canada and the USA in hockey, I heard a sound from the area of my skimmer and thought it was just making some noise and Pat said she has heard that sound before, so not putting 2 + 2 together and realizing it may be a splashing sound just ignored it and it went away.
After feeding the fish in the reef, I noticed a piece of mush I make, caught in the overflow box to the skimmer, and looked in the back of the aquarium to see if I could get it out and there on the glass cover over the aquarium was my magneta dottyback and it had perished underneath the MH lights!
So that was what the noise was! I really liked that fish and what a personality and Pat said I could get another one but I would know it was not "Scooter". It is not a good feeling in my heart right now! All part of the reef hobby but will recognize that sound next time and hopefully save a loved inhabitant of my tank. Just wanted to share! Johnny
She also said "tell Johnny to keep his chin up, walk proud, and know that he did well by his fish while it was in his care."
