Sad finger leather (Update)

Hey everyone,

I have this voilet colored finger leather in my nano tank and the dumb thing wont stop pointing towards the sand. It opens up everyday but loves to look down for some odd reason. I was just wondering if anyone has any care tips for these finger leathers or if pointing down is even a bad sign?

Sorry, I can't make it out very well in the pic. Is it getting any direct currant on it? I've noticed that the leathers I've had, Lobophyton, Sarchophyton, seem to do best with some currant on them. It seems to actually help them stand up better and polyp out more. Currant will also help them shed detritus more easily. HTH

I maybe wrong because its hard to see in the picture but that doesnt look like a finger leather. Looks more like a purple or golden bush. Any more pics?

I have a violet tree coral---looks exactly what you have, and it was doing the same thing. I moved it to the top of the rocks--closer to the light---and in direct flow. Within 2 days it stood right up....HTH

Looks a lot like a purple cauliflower aka carnation. They are non photosynthetic and need direct strong flow, also need direct feeding. Check out the cauliflower in my gallery and see if it looks alike.

Lightbulb

alright everyone,
Here is a better pic, sorry about the crappy first one. Maybe its not even a finger leather, I'm not really sure. I've moved it into direct flow and closer to the light but its too soon to see if it has helped. I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date. Thanks for the help.

P.S. If its not a finger leather can anyone ID it for me?

Sorry for your loss. It is hard to say what caused it, but, I have had new corals do that too.

I had a golden bush (nepthea) that looked a bit like that, it did exactly the same. Just disintegrated one day, dont know why?
