Rubber Pad in sump

I have a vibration problem with my submersible return pump. I was thinking about using some plain black mousepad material under it to dampen the vibration. Does anyone know if the rubber material used in the pad is safe for fish? Or any other suggestions for a pad?

Sharky - Personally, I would say try to find something that is kinda soft - maybe a soft silicone mat of some sort? The trick is, whatever you use should have no smell, and be able to withstand 3 minutes in boiling water. This is a good test of something's ability to maintain its integrity - also the method used by some friends (SiF) to check other toys.

Another possibility - can you apply some silicone (like used to assemble tanks) in lines across the bottom of the pump itself? Then it is like a permanent "support", and some of the silicons have enough "give" to make a decent vibration dampener.

Good luck!

Some of the Mag pumps come with a pad similar to a mouse pad
