rubber-band ok?

Hi all - I have had a rubber-band strapping a frag of star polyps to a rock for some time in my tank.. now they have attached and grown over sections of the rubber-band.. is it safe to leave a couple parts of the band attached to their growth areas?

No prob. I usually use a rubber band to attach all my softies, I leave it in the tank until it rots off.
