royal gamma ?

I got a royal gamma 2 weeks ago. I kept it in qt for a week and moved to main tank. He stayed hidden first couple of days but now comes out fairly often. My question is he has a "bruise" on his forhead. First noticed looked like a scratch but now has darkened. He eats well and is active, no scratching. Some of his hiding spots are tiny and wondering if he is just rubbing up against rock. Would you just leave him be as long as it doesn't get worse?

Also, can someone explain what a freshwater dip is and what its purpose is? I have seen alot of people recommend for different ailments.

Jena,
can you get a shot of him and the mark?
it maybe nothing but a coloring for him.
the fresh water dip is used a lot with some fish and coral. the fish part is used in helping ( sorta) killing ick, but you do add a bunch more stress to the fish, the fresh dip for corals is to make sure you dont add some nastys in to your tank ( flatworms)

Okay trying to get pic but camera phone not good enough. Things are worse now. The area is raised and clear and something moves inside it. Must be a parasite but no idea what kind. What would I use to treat this guy?

I had a Oscar who got that and I treated his disease with a chemical, but he did not recover and his disease was not compatible with life and he passed
