Question

rock cooking container question

so I'm ready to begin cooking my rock, but the container I got doesn't say whether or not it is pesticide free. I'd like to know if anyone else has used a 10 gallon Sterilite storage container to cook rock. Or if anyone knows if it is safe. It was only $4, so I bought it before asking here first. thanks.

Sterilite is fine. Like anything though....rinse the heck out of it.

Disclaimer.......whether or not it has anything added to it i dont know for sure, but i have a dozen Sterilite quart dishes that i use for frags in my sumps and quarantine tank all the time.........

I have bought a few to do WC's and tank tear downs with and have had no issues. I always just rinsed them prior to use!

Honestly, i dont know where all this pesticide in plastic worry has came from..........i think i have used every plastic container under the sun and have never had an issue with it except for the time my wife replaced a old kitty litter bucket that i had been using with a NEW empty kitty litter bucket........

just about the time i finished the water change i noticed this really perfumy smell coming from the tank........

yeah, that was one of those times that a 100% water change followed by ANOTHER 100% water change was the course of action that needed taken..........

no losses

Plain old HD issue rubbermaid or hefty works for me..I did a rinse and vinegar and water wipedown followed by a rinse to remove the mold release.
