RO Units

I am in the process of upgrading.
Is a 5 stage unit the ultimate, or plain overkill?
Thanks.

Jeff, considering water quality in you reef begins with the purity of the water used to mix with your salt, I don't think a 5 stage RO/Di is overkill if you can afford it( make do with less) Things to consider are the amount of dissolved solids(minerals) and organic pollutants(nitrates, phophates, chemical contamination, etc) If you live in a large metropoplitan area with heavily trated tap water or a rural area with lots of agriculture I'd recommend the best water filtration setup you can afford. It really makes no sense to have thousands invested in a reef and risk it to save a hundred bucks

Thanks doug.
I have a horse farm. My water comes from a 180' well, and there is a decent watershed on the back of the acreage.
Also we'll be using it for drinking so i think I'll go for it. for the extra money, I would rather be safe and be able to enjoy this tank as it grows. not rue the day I set it up.

Have a great day.

Jeff

Kewl, safer is better and look into the drinkin water setup most RO manufacturers offer. makes it quick and easy to get great pure drinking water. You might want to look at this site, they sponsor another Reef Board http://www.aquariumwaterfilters.com/
