Not familiar with the Kold Ster-il one, as soon as i receive a missing canister (got a used unit) i will be using the Kent unit you are deciding on,,,to replace/upgrade the Natures way 30GPD RO/DI unit i'm currently using,,,i've heard great things about these Kent Hi-S units, can't say i know anyone that is using the K-S brand,,,

if i could suggest, you would be better set up with getting a unit with DI capability also,,,'specially if you are planning on using the product water in a reef tank IMO,,,,
just my 2 cents,,,,
also, check out some of our sponsors ( ex.Premium) they carry a full line of Kent RO/DI products, and they price match,,,,

the GPD rating is based on a couple of things(yes,24 hr period)
incoming water pressure
and water temperature(colder temps=less output)

24 hrs a day?
depends on what you are putting the water into,,,5 gallon container, 55 gallon Rubbermaid barrel,,etc.
most people mount the unit on the wall, near a incoming water supply,,with a valve to shut off the unit when needed..
other also use a float switch to shut of incoming water supply when water is filled to a certain level .(for top-off((fresh))/water change water((salt)) )

this is a company i ran acroos a while back that seems to have a very good reputation and they are very helpful over the phone. They also have pretty good prices.

And here is another link for a diff place that makes RO/DI units

Hope that helps a bit
