Question

RO/DI System

I just got a new reef keeper RO/DI system from air, water& ice in florida. It says its supposed to make 75 gal. per day. I dont get 2 gal. out of it and it just trickles then stops. Am I braindead or is that not right?

put a ball valve on your waste water line and adjust it so your getting approxiamately a 3-1 ratio of bad water to good

also ckeck to make sure your getting enough line pressure for 75 gpd you will probably need something over 50 psi for your unit to work right.

I think it is your water pressure as well. My RO?DI unit has a gagfe on it and it reads 45-50 psi. Your 'good' water is going to trickle out or flow very slowly, that part is normal. My unit flows at a trickle on the verge of a steady flow. Can you check the pressure on your faucet? Also, another idea, my faucets in the house have 'eco-friendly' water saving constrictors on them, but my outside faucet has higher psi. Maybe check that??? That's all I can come up with...

I have the same unit, I get about 40-50 gpd, but my pressure is low and my tds levels are huge, around 700, i get more like a 10:1 rejection rate i would guess. A problem i had initially was that the pierce valve doesnt seem to make a large enough hole in vinyl tubing, I had to take the pierce valve off and open the hole up a little with a knife, after that I got better production. If you cant figure it out contact walter at air water ice, he is very helpful and will get you taken care of.

Question

This may sound dumb.......But why would you put a ball valve on the waste water side ?What does that accomplish?

it creates more pressure on the membrane enabling it to produce more product.
