RO/DI Setups
Can I see how some of you have your RO/DI setups?
I am trying to find a place for my RO/DI. I can tap off of the washing machines supply and waste lines. My problem is I have no where to keep a tub for the water. I can keep the 5G containers there while filling I guess but there is not much room there. When I used to have the system running in my condo I have it hooked up under my sink and filled the jugs in the sink, this way if they overflowed (THEY WILL) it went down the drain.
In my new house I dont have the space under the kitchen sink upstairs for the RO/DI system and the tank would be downstairs in the livingroom. SO if I hooked it up in the laundry room I WILL have a flood.
How do you all set yours up with limited space?

Mine is not permanently hooked up to anything. I bought lots of 1/4" and 3/8" rigid hose at HD. To filter water I bring the filter into the kitchen. The drain hose goes into the laundry room and is used to fill the washing machine, or I put it in the pipe with the washing machine drain hose. The water supply is 1/4" tubing that runs out the back door to a garden hose. There's enough give in the weather stripping on the door that I can shut the door without pinching the hose. I used to have a sink adapter that I used, but my wife bought new sink hardware and I couldn't find a way to connect it without it leaking so I got the garden hose adapter.
To fill up my tubs with ro/di, I have a 1/4" to 3/8" John Guest coupling adapter and connect 50' of 3/8" tubing that gets run through the kitchen and living room to my storage tubs. I have to keep an eye on the cats as they like to chase air bubbles that go through the tubing. I start cheking the tubs after 5 or 6 hours since they hold around 30 gallons total volume.
When I'm done I shut off the water supply and let the filter depressurize. The 3/8" tubing gets disconnected from the 1/4" tubing and I blow air through it to clear out as much water as I can. Coil the tubing back up and store it in a bucket. Then I break the rest of the stuff down and put it away behind the tank.
It's not a perfect system, but it works for me.

Interesting. I dont need the RO/DI to run directly to the tank for auto top off. I need it to fill the jugs that I will carry to the tank to fill the reservoir. I can get an adapter to get the supply from the washing machine feed but I dont have a place to put the jugs and to capture any water that WILL eventually overflow.

The only reason I have tubing going all through the living room is because I got tired of hauling buckets of water to fill my tubs. If you don't want to have tubing everywhere, set up your RO/DI wherever your want and put your jugs in a 25 gallon Rubbermaid tub when filling them. If you over fill a jug while it's in the tub, no harm no foul. If you flood a 25 gallon tub, you're just not paying attention.

LOL...it is a cheap/easy solution. I started doing it after I created a small flood in the kitchen by over filling my bucket. I know it takes my RO/DI about 45 minutes to fill a salt bucket about 3/4 full. A few times I got distracted and lost track of time...water on the floor. After that I started putting my bucket in an extra Rubbermaid container for flood insurance. I also started using the timer on my watch and haven't flooded a bucket since.
