RO/Di leaking ...Help

I have turned it off for now...so it's not an emergency. My RO/DI unit has a pressure tank and a faucet at the sink. Water is coming out of a breather valve on the faucet, wasting water and pissing off the wife. Anyone have any ideas? All the pipes appear to be clear. The auto shut-off is not shutting off I assume because it is not reaching pressure, so it just continues to leak until I shut off the input to the unit.

How does water get to this breather valve? Does it come from a hose that goes to the other shell of the tank? If so then it might be a ripped diaphram there,.. otherwise maybe a replacement focet would help?

The faucet has three lines going to it.
One is pressurized water from the pressure tank (filtered water to make ASW)
Two is the water being drained off the RO Membrane (Brine water)
Three is the hose to take the Brine water to the sewer
My understanding is that the faucet provides an internal "air gap" to avoid the possibility of gray water (sewer) from backing up into the RODI if there is a loss of water pressure (of course it would have to coincide with a blocked sewer line)

I suppose the mechanical auto shutoff (part of the RODI system) could be bad, it would have a diaphram in it

Oh,.. no- I was talking about the diaphram in the storage tank but it sounds like you have a different deal.

So you have a line that is the waste water going into the tap - and one line that goes to the sewer,.. the focet is supposed to have an internal check valve that prevents the water from going back from the sewer into the membrane and it is this part that's leaking?

Sounds like the focet is bad,.. though my RO/DI just runs direct from the waste line to the sewer,.. maybe you could do it like that and avoid the check valve in the focet?

I suppose I could get an adapter, the output of the membrane is 1/4" and the drain is 3/8" I may even have a check valve in my junk drawer. Good thinking Whiskey Thanks

Are you going to make the drive to the west coast party?

Make sure the check valve doesn't badly restrict flow, and make sure all the focet did was act as a check valve,.. make sure it wasn't also a restricter - or also a shutoff valve.

Does HD carry a new focet for that thing?

No, I'm not,.. I don't really have the money for a hotel room - plus I plan to be in the mid-west over those dates or very close to them.

My work is going to cut my head off when I put in that vacation slip,.. if I asked for more they may just give me the rest of my life off
