RO/DI Install

I read something about this before but cant remember what was said...

Is it ok to hook up an RO/DI unit to the cold water input of a water heater and then the waste line to the drain line of the water heater?

My water heater is in my garage and has pvc leading to and from it. think its cvpc. The way the outlets are for my washing machine hookups, I dont think I could hook it up there without cutting out a section of the wall (the faucets are in a recessed box in the wall) and it would be easier for me as far as storage and stuff to install in the garage. Just looking for input.
Thanks
Eugene

The drain line on my water heater is the hot water out to the fawcetts of the house and thus pressurized; it would not be suitable for the ro discharge, which should be a gravity flow drain like a sink drain. Your hot water heater may be set up differently than mine though.

i have a plastic square deep sink in my garage next to my washer and dryer...i but a t in the cold water line and put the other line down my drain where my wash from my washer goes down....sinks are great in garages for yard work, working on the car or other ways of getn your hands dirty.. you dont have to use the sinks in the house and hear your fiance, girlfriend or wife, lol
