RO/DI help

I just got my first ro/di unit and i have a few things im unsure of. How often does it have to be run? What i mean is, can i make water once a week or do i have to run it more often so that the media doesnt dry out? Is the media drying out even something i should be concerned about? Can the unit be set on the floor or do i need to mount it so the water flows down into the container as opposed to uphill? What should my TDS be and how often should i change the media? Lots of stupid questions, i know, but any help would be appreciated. There is a link to the unit i purchased below if anyone has any specific thoughts on that unit. Thanks!

The media will not dry out, water stays inside the canisters when not in use. You can put the filter anywhere that is stable and convenient (you need access to eventually change the media). Water pressure moves the water through the filter, don't worry about gravity. TDS should be as close to zero as possible, but it may depend on how high your water coming out of the tap is.

It all depends on how much water you make, but on average, I would say every 6 months for filters and about every year for DI resin and every 3 years to change your membrane.

Also, the TDS readings depend on what part of the country you live in. Some people's readings are in the 800's, others are around 50 or so. The reading isn't high and you aren't concerned with that number anyway. You should find out what your rejection rate is for your unit, (it's a percentage, 97%, 98%, etc), and then measure your TDS of ingoing and outgoing water and do the math to make sure you are within that percentage, once it goes out of it, then you need to change filters/resin, possibly membrane, depending on how long it has been running.
