RO/DI Aquafx question

Hello all,

Had a question about an AquaFX Mako RO/DI unit. Just got all the plumbing done, however when hooked up via the instructions, I get slow drips into the DI chambers. But I am getting approx. 1200 gallons a day out of the waste tube.......

That does not seem right to me. If anyone has hooked one of these up, could you let me know. I would think that the waste would be a slow drip and a little more pressure into the DI canisters....

Thanks !!

I know !!! ....water bill ought to be nice and high...If I did the math right, I am getting 8 oz every 5 seconds. But it is only dripping in to the DI cartidges. Not even enough to get any output.

I am thinking that maybe they got the drain and output from the membrane reversed. Can't really tell from the picture in the manual.

Hey Craig..sounds like things may not be plumbed up right. Give AquaFX a call or e-mail. I'm sure they will be very happy to help you get it plumbed up correctly.

It sure sounds like something along those lines Craig. If you decide to talk with AquaF/x as Brook suggested, and still can't figure it out, feel free to PM me and I will be glad to help you as best I can.
BTW, I own the AquaF/X 5 stage unit and am quite familar with the set up.

Thanks Brooke and Steve,

I did talk with Marianne at Aqua/FX this morning and she was very, very helpful. It seems that the flow restrictor for the waste line got knocked loose during shipment. I have not gone home yet to look in the shipping box for it, but that sounds like the problem.

She went so far as to send me one overnight, just in case it is missing from the box !!!

Now that is what I call customer service!!!!!!! If only all companies were more like these guys.

I did have one question for you Steve, when measuring your TDS, what are your typical measurements.....I know mine is not working right yet, but it is reading around 180 on the in side and 008 on the out side......I am assuming that is good, but wanted to get some sort of reference point.

Thanks again !!!

Craig, here is what I get with my meter (hand held).

Out of faucet = 175
Out of RO = 9
Out of DI = 1
I have a line with a ball valve coming out of my RO that I installed myself to check the TDS at this point. My unit is a couple of years old and the new ones may already come with this feature.
