rio, new or old

i just got 2 rio pumps but ive heard alot of horror stories about them. supposedly recent rio models have been improved but how do i know that i got a new one. ive heard that the rios leak oil into the tank if the epoxy burns away, but mine said its oil-free epoxy. could this mean it is an updated one? thanks

Six rio products came with my old hand me down tank. Within six months all six failed for various reasons. These may or may not have been the "old" product, but I have had 100% success with Maxijet, Magdrive and Dolphin products in the last year and a half.
