Ricordea
Do Ricordeas close up at night or is something wrong with my water or flow? Everything is testing at 0 but I dont know if the water flow might be too strong. It expands during the day but closes up during the night.

yes its normal... they close up at night when the lights go off, or when they are eating

Most all corals(softies & Lps) close up (expel water) at night!

yeah they dont like high flow and like low light. The retract at night or when lights off. really prtty what color are you rics

I gotta disagree with you there Combie on the light part.
They can tolerate lower light but prefer high light and open up more if you supply it

Agree!! i also thought this with the zoa's until i seen some under Halides.. wowza.. they looked fully open and very bright

I think very few corals actually "Prefer" or want low light (ie. carnations). Most "low light" adapt and love MH's.
Now a zoo under a 400w MH only 6" under the water may be  but I have tons of lower light corals LOVING my 250w MH's!
I think the Low light coral concept....... is more that they will survive with Low light rather than prefer it.
We are still way away from what the SUN is providing!
