Return Pump: Sump to Tank Questions
Ok, I've got 3 more things to get for my 75 gallon tank to be up and running 1) Stand/Canopy 2) Lights 3) Return Pump.
Reading up on the Mag-Drive 12 I see that at a 5 foot height (4 foot + 1 for a 90 degree elbow) that I should get 1100 gallon per hour. That's 1 gallon every 3 seconds and a turnover of almost 15 times the display tanks volume ( I have a 35 gallon tank as a sump, will probably have 20-25 gallons in it). Is that too much return? I was going to have it hit the front glass, but I'm afraid that it will just kick sand all over the place (I'll also have a 4-6" DSB) and be to much water movement. I'll also have a couple (2-3) Maxi-Jet 1200 (300+ gph) in the display tank. Should I move down to the Mag-Drive 7 or 9 1/2? Thanks for your time!
