Return pump ?'s...

I've been searching and reading a bunch of old threads, but I can't seem to find the answer to my question. I set up my 75g with the intention of using a borrowed QuietOne 4000 (1000gph@0'), but the pump is getting old and finicky and I would like to replace it with a Mag7 or Mag9. I used a 1" return line because that is the size of the outlet on the QuietOne. I have since found out that the Mags have a 3/4" outlet which leads to my questions. Do I have to re-plumb the return to 3/4" to get the most of my pump? If I don't, will I get less flow from it? Does the head pressure go up as the pipe size increases?

I'm looking to go with a pump that has less flow than the QuietOne. My sump isn't set up perfectly, so I get microbubbles in the main tank all the time. FWIW - I'm leaning toward the Mag7 for the return.

Thanks!
Brian

No, using a 1" return on a 3/4 inch pump is perfectally fine.

For a 75G reef I think either the Mag5 or the Mag 7 would work great for your needs. There are also allot of poeple that really like the Ehime pumps.
