Return pump question

I am setting up a 58G with two returns out of the sump for my primary water movement. Presently I have two submersible pumps, one for each return (standard returns 3/4" with two 90s each, 5 ft. of vertical head). One pump is an Genx 2400 650gph, and the other a Rio Hyperflow 12 750gph. I have no problem with the flow....it is the noise!!! Sounds like I have a large, inefficient refridgerator under my tank and it is making me crazy.

I am thinking that I need to bite the bullet and buy a higher-end external pump and hopefully cut out a bunch of the noise (and free up some sump space and simplify my plumbing at the same time).

Question for those who might have some insight:
Which of the following would you suggest as a replacement with dependability and NOISE reduction being the overiding concerns?

Blueline Velocity T4
Genx Mak4/pcx40
Iwaki MD40RLXT (american motor)
any other personal favorite under $200

I need about 1200 gph at 5' head.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have been to the websites and they all say "super duper quiet" but would like some hands-on reviews before I buy.

Thx in advance
Andy

This is not on your list, and I don't really know if they are louder then any others , I have for years use little gaints, No problems ever. I mean run them for years and never had one fail me. But they do make some noise, I don't know if it louder then what you hear now, I would think that internal would be less noise then External pump. Maybe some one will jump in.

The Velocity pumps are supposed to be dead quiet, but they do add heat more so than other external pumps. I have a PCX-30 and PCX-55. They are pretty quiet (more than any submersable Ive had) but not totally silent. They are tollerable though and dont seem to create issues with heat. Dont know about the Iwakis.

Velocities are absolutely dead quiet. i have tried many pumps, and nothing is as quiet as a Velocity. you literally have to touch one to know if it is on or not. i try and use these pumps on everything because of thier quietness.

they do add heat to the tank, this goes with how they are designed. they are water cooled pumps. they have a titanium base plate that helps cool the motor inside the volute. these do not have fans. fans add noise. if the pump has a fan on it, i guarantee that it will make more noise than the Velocity.

the only problem with the T4 is that it has barb fittings instead of MPT fittings. i have no idea why this one is different than the others, but makes installing it annoying. if you have flex PVC available than it is not that bad of an install.
