return plumbing

I have a new acrylic tank 72"x30"x 24", and I would to know what is the best way to run my returns? The tank is new so there are no holes on the back wall. I have one center overflow inside dimensions 22"x6" with 2-2" bulkheads in the bottom. Return pump is a Dolphin 4700 with approximately 10' to 12' head. I'm a bit apprehensive about drilling holes in the back wall, but I know it has to be done. I don't know where to place the holes, or what size, or how many? Does anyone have a good design? If you could post any photos it would be a great help?

Any, and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

This might not help ya much but was basically designed from Mojo's closed loop and such. The center two in the pic are the returns. My tank is 60x18x24. The two 2 inch holes in the bottom of your box I would use both as a drain into your sump but thats me. I would then go as far up as you can allowing for the bulkheard and drill for the returns.

Maybe wanna think of using your 4700 on a closed loop and maybe a smaller or even a cpl smaller smaller pumps for returns.

If I am way off base here folks tell me Im just throwing ideas out to see if maybe I can help.

I hope some others will add some input. I don't want to screw up my new tank.

Tanks Jeff for the bump. I found a super set up when I did a search for plumbing. The big problem is the cost of that system would be way over my head. I don't know how to add the link,but Wanareef has the link. Dr B is the one with the system.

I know there are some other good systems out there. May be some others will post their return plumbing systems.
