Removing corner overflows

Hi everyone,
I haven't been around for a while, we bought a (new to us) house and sold all our livestock and some equip. but are thinking getting started back up.

I have an older AGA 180 with corner overflows and would like to remove at least one of them. I'm planning on setting it up as a room divider in our new house and don't want to loose that much viewing area. I've removed an overflow before, I just wasn't able to get all of the silicone residue from the glass. It's like the silicone impregnated the glass. I was hoping someone would have a secret for cleaning silicone residue from glass before I removed the box.

Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Yup, I've used razor blades with success. It can take a little time to get it all cleaned up, but that should be all you need.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm just going to have to make up my mind to remove it or not. I just hate to have that large of an obstruction on the end of the new setup. I thought about trying to trade it to someone with a non RR tank.
