Removing Chlorine?

I'm fixing to start my first salt water tank, I have question on water however. Would Chlorine extracters work on removing all the chlorine and making the water safe for the reef? It seems if would be allot cheaper this way..

you would still want to get some sort of water purifier
reverse osmosis units seem to be the most popular

yes the chlorine remover would work, but it won't remove the nutrients in tap water

agreed. Chlorine is just ONE of many bad things in tap-water.

Believe it or not, MOST tap water contains about 20ppm of Nitrates! The thing we TRY to keep low in our tanks. Not to mention phophates (fuel for algae) and silicates (fuel for diatoms).

So ever water change done with tap water, is adding that stuff BACK to our tank!

Nope, RO/DI is practically pure H2O; until you start reading TDS in PPB.
