Skimmerless is workable. Weekly water change - 20 to 30%. Or Mud refugiums (says some reefers. dunno)

why did you remove the DSB?

Can't you just vacum the sand out?

Skimming is good. The question is can you go skimmerless?

Of course. The primary reason for skimming is to reduce nutrients in the tank. Very frequent water change can also do that.

The reason it is not practical to do that (frequent water change) is supply problems. Mixing new saltwater often is more expensive than skimming!

Thinking in a box is really laughable. eh?
