Reidi Birth Announcement and Update
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this group but I thought I would let you know what's currently going on. Friday morning my H. Reidi gave birth to 214 babies (his biggest brood ever!) We are on day three and I currently have 170 left after our water change this morning so I think we are doing fairly well. I can say that this time I wasn't prepared since he lost his last batch of fry, and I didn't have any copepods or other goodies going. I gave them some decapsulated brine but I know from experience that they probably won't last long on these. I was going to try the Kreisel bowl setup this time, but alas, I didn't have time to go and buy one. Well, Wish me luck everyone,
Crystal Bridges

Congratulations Crystal!!!
With Reidi, those Kriesel bowls are the way to go! Been there, done that...
I never got any past 2 months and my male has been sick for a long while now. I've got his GBD symptoms cleared but he's still very lethargic, and not interested in mating. Had him 13 months today....glad he's still hanging in but wish I could give him his vigor back...
I had good luck with decapped bbs, tried rotifers but they didn't seem to take to them. Copepods are the way to go, but by the time I got good cultures going, the pair had stopped breeding
Keep us posted
Jenn

Welcome and good luck with the pony project

Gee jenn, the fact you knew what was going on
Seriously tho, it took a minute and analyzing the context, there are a lot of Genus that begin with H
