Refugium question

On a CPR HOT refugium, can you take the inner part of the return tube off and just have it overflow, and not have to siphon down? I've had problems with the return tube clogging over time, and Í worry about an overflow if a snail or something tries to get in there...

Not familiar with that set-up. Your best bet is to contact CPR - they've always had good customer service for me when I had questions about my bakpak.
