Refugium full of baby fish

Hi, Just got back from vacation and took a close look at my sump / refugium and found maybe 50 or more baby fish. I have no clue what they are. I just set up my sump and got a piece of live rock from a fellow reefer. The babies are only in the center refugium section and the over flow return area. I see none in the section from the tank so they most likely came on the live rock. I already started a batch of brine shrimp. Any other suggestions? Should I raisse them in the refugium or set up a 10g and net them out? What else shall I feed them?

Thanks all,

HOmer

Although I have no experience with saltwater fry....there is one thing I do know, and that is to not expose them to air! If you decide to move them, then gently scooping them up in a small bowl or cup would be the best way to do it.
Again, I'm no expert, but it would seem to me that as long as they can't be sucked out of the refugium, that it might be best to leave them there to feed on whatever may be living in there. Newly hatched brine shrimp is good, maybe some DT's might help too.....hard to say since you don't know what they are.....

Good luck! And congratulations too!!

Homer, that's too cool!

Any chance of asking the fellow reefer what he thinks may have been spawning in his tank?

Yes, I'd try baby brine as that's the easiest fix; if the babies are really tiny, though, you may need to try rotifers. Can you get on the phone to some of your reef club members and see if one of them has a culture going?

Your refugium is probably the best place for them right now if they aren't getting sucked up. No worrries over stressing them out with moving them.

Neat!
