how long to you plan on waiting to put critters in the tank? it takes 2 months for a tank to cycle properly.

exactly what corals do you want to keep. depending on the corals you may not need a whole bunch of light.

this is not a hobby for the impatient.

the only thing im impatient for is starting! ha ha i just want to get a tank and put some sand water and live rock in it so i can get going. I realize the breakin is long and that is ok with me. Im just trying to figure out the best way to do this. As far as what klind of corals i want to keep the answer is what ever kind i can keep without spening $200 on a light. Would one of those grow lights from the link work well? as well as the same compact flo lights used for aquariums? If so then i would buy a 20 long tank and use that to start my project. What do you guys think?

well i dont have a tank at the moment. It just wondering if this type of setup will work with a 20 gallon tank(long or normal) WIll these lights put out enough light to support simpler corals?

they would work for things like shrooms and zoas, but the colour spectrum would not be very pleasant to your eyes. it would be far to yellow.
