| Onset of Symptoms | Rapid, with death occurring within minutes. |

| Antidote | Vasodilators are effective if delivered immediately by injection into the ventricle of the heart. The most effective are papverine and isosorbide dinitrate. If exposure is expected, pretreatment with hydrocortisone an hour beforehand may offer protection.
Unfortunately, I work in EMS and neither of the drugs listed is carried on our ambulances, nor have I seen them listed in any of the literature I've read.

Some indigenous pacific islanders used it to tip their spears.

This is taken from what Tims linked also
Several species of Palythoa are used in aquariums, but do not produce the toxin. Originally, it was only found in a single tidal pool on the island of Maui in Hawaii and native Hawaiians used to coat spear points with a red

Last I read up on it there were only two species of palythoa that actually carried the deadly toxin palytoxin. neither of which are available in the hobby.
That is not to say that there arent other toxins that can make you sick or even kill small animals that ingest it. I have been sick several times from fragging carelessly. Just headaches and nausea though......

Since we have covered Palyotoxin, I am thinking we should add Scorpionidae venom and some of the other common ones that might show up in the trade.

was looking for the msds for interceptor( red bug treatment) and couldnt find an actual msds form but did find a little info. if anyone can find the actual msds that would be great.
heres what i found:
What are the side effects
Side effects of Interceptor are rare although some animals may exhibit depression, drowsiness, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, hypersalivation, seizures and weakness.
What special precautions are there
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. The pet should be tested for heartworm disease before starting this medication. If the pet has been off heartworm preventative for 6 months or more, retest in 6 months since microfilaria, that take 6 months to mature, will cause a positive test result. Because humans can contract hookworm and roundworm from animals it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.
In the event of overdose
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
How should I store this medication
Keep this medication in the original box. Do not remove the tablet from the foil wrap until ready to give the medication. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and pets.
