Question

reef invertebre question...

Recently, I upgraded my aquarium with live sand and more live rock. To my surprise, 3 days later I have 3 small blue fan worms on the live rock, and 4 fingernail size starfish(?) roaming around my tank. How, if possible, do I help these little buggers grow as I do like the new additions? Also, some of my live rock has brown polyps coming out of hidden crevices. Are these going to bother anything and what exactly are they? Thank you in advance....

the polyps are they a light brown? if they are they are bad. if they touch any of your coral it will kill your coral. the best thing to do is to get a special clamp that fits on to it or just a Peppermint shrimp or just go the cheap way and pull them out with tongs, they are very fast. but they will grow back anyway you do it. we all have them.

Could just be button polyps, asterina stars and tube worms. All harmless.

I agree with we need a picture to really give an accurate ID.

Welcome to the Reef tank!

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

thank you for your quick responses, I have more of these stars, just too small and hidden for my cheap camera phone.:-) BTY I did confirm that that blue thing is a small fan or tube worm/feather duster.
