red velvet... algae not cayno

alright well by the title you all are probaly thinking oh its cayno blah blah blah... its not jsut trust me. now that we have that out of the way lets tell you what it is this is a velvet like algae its a very nice red color for a dress not for my rock well 2 of them.

this algae is about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch long now the thing about it is that a scrub brush is useless and pulling it off requiers pliers this stuff is on there like glue. its ok as long as it isnt taking over that aera like it is. i was wondering if any one knew of an algae it might be and something that might eat it my snails leave it alone i have many from cerith to mexicans. ill have a pict soon but it wont tell you anything other then im telling you now

512,
i feel your pain. i started that thread geoff posted last week. this stuff is a mother f'er. it will eventually spread to all your rocks. a black spiny urchin helps a little bit. if you only have it on a few rocks yank it out quick, i wasn't able to because of corals that attached. good luck
