Red Hairy Stuff?
I have this red hairy stuff that is slowly growing from my rocks to my sand bed? Is there something that can get rid of this?

Does it look like this???
If so Aspragopsis taxiforma, see http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=108279 for more info. The consistany will not be slimey as would be a Cyanobacterial bloom, rather mildly bristly depending on which cultivar it might be.

You are testing at zero most likely because the algae is using it all up as it grows. Are you using R/O water?

Yes you want to be using R/o water. I you have much flow in your tank I wouldnt bother trying a lettuce sea slug. Do you have Tds meeter to test the water you are putting into your tank?

i have the same stuff... and the one article i read on it stated that its one of the few algaes that can do just as well in prestine water conditions. mexican turbos are the only things reported to eat it. i just added 6 of them a week ago and they are slowly eating it. ill see if i can find a link to the article i read on it
