Recommended Skimmer
I ordered a Reef Octopus 300F HOB Skimmer for my 72 gal tank. AquaCave called me today and said its back ordered for a month, so they refunded my money.
I actually decided I want to go with an in-sump skimmer now. Can you guys please make me a recommendation for the best skimmer for a 72g tank? $200.00 is my skimmer budget.
Thanks,
-02

it does require water be fed into it... it says the overflow may be enough but IDK about that. There is a Vertex 100 worth looking into as well.
If you use the comparison shopping tab you can look at all the 100-200 internal skimmers. Virtually any skimmer someone on this board is going to recommend is going to be on that list.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

The same HOB is in stock here. For in sump, I would look at the MSX160 or maybe the MSX200 if you plan on upgrading someday. A little over your budget but worth it in my opinion.
Your experience with Aquacave is not uncommon. With todays software solutions, integrating realtime inventory with webstores is not that difficult.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... Okay, so I narrowed it down to 3, if you can call that narrowing it down.
Can I get a vote, please?
1. Reef Octopus 300F HOB
2. Reef Octopus DNWB-110 Needlewheel
3. Vertex 100 Gen 2

I could even do the Vertex In-180. Marine Depot has the Vertex's on sale for 20% off. Any thoughts on this skimmer?
They say it will ship at the end of next week.

Modded ASM G-3... I have one for sale (hint hint lol). It did a VERY nice job on my heavly stocked 90 gallon tank. I downsized and no longer need it. PM me if you might be interested.
