Ready for sps?

I have had my tank going for nearly 3 months now. Went fishless for 1.5months then only a little fire fish. I am not having any algae blooms and my water parameters are all perfect. Calcium steady at 350. Do you think I can start with a couple small inexpensive SPS. I want this to be the dominant kind of coral in the tank snd am getting bored waiting!

If what you say is true, a nice birdsnest or montipora may be in order.

WOuld this be your first coral or are you pretty familiar with keeping corals? 3 months seems pretty soon to be adding sps to me, but it can be done. I'd like to see the tank mature more and husbandry skills get better before taking on some of the more difficult corals. DO you have any coraline growing in the tank? Can you tell us more about your tank?

Another thing to be sure of is if your lighting is good enough for SPS. I am assuming so since you are asking the question but can never be too careful.

IMO you should try to bring your cal up to 450 if possible and also check your alk. Alot of people fail to look at that and that can be a killer

How about some more specifics on your tank, lights, skimmer, size, etc. I agree on the calcium, raise it up around 450 and make sure you have a grip on alk too. When you do get going with it, I would start with a Monty Cap maybe.
