READY FOR NEW FISH....Would these be alright?

Good Morning all,

I am looking to add a couple of new fish to my 75 gal reef tank. Several months ago I lost almost all my livestock to a case of Velvet that was brought in with my new Kole Tang. Like I said it has been several months since I added the test fish (domino damsel). And all is good. Right now I have a 6 line wrasse and a false perc that survived the velvet issue. All three fish look good and healthy. One note that I thought was strange.....and entertaining.......my Domino Damsel has basically hosted in my LTA, especially at night. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Anyway back to my main question. I was wanting to add a Flame Angel and or a healthy Yellow Tang. What do you think? Should I do the two together or should I even attempt another Tang of any short? I know they are more hearty but I guess I am scared. Suggestions please...........................

clown fish and DAMsels are related and it has been documented that they(DAMsels) use anemones for protection when young. i would not put a tang of any kind in a 4ft tank. they are swimming fish and a min. 6ft tank is better. You have to figure out if you want a reef or a fish tank. I dont see anything about corals but you are asking this question in the general reef forum so i am assuming you do have corals. any angel is not to be trusted. the are not reef safe. they are reef safe with caution. many people have had them with no issues then out of no where months later they start tearing up the coral. my suggestion is if it is a reef tank you should min. the amount fish fish to few especially if its a sps tank. This will min. the food, waste, debri, =nitrates amoung other issues

you could probably add another tang, though the yellow may not be the best choice. I dunno, I like the kole tang. What about another? They stay pretty small in comparison.

I do have some corals, a small branching Frogspawn, a small rock with Zoa's as well as a green goniopora that is doing great and a polyp type coral that I am not aware of the name (browish in color and they close up tight at night (size of a dime) and open during the day (size of a half dollar). I plan on introducing a few other hardy corals over time. As far as the Flame Angel..........I was unaware that it was NOT reef safe as I have seen them in display reef tanks on this site as well as at all LFS I have been to. So no yellow tang and no Angel...............any other suggestions? I haven't made many posts myself but browse TRT everyday learning new ideas and thoughts and I totally respect the opinion's of the Vet's on this sight. Just curious if there are any other opinions on the matter?

A Flame Angel is considered one of the most "reef safe" but they are hit or miss, some munch corals and some don't I have only heard of a handful out of several that caused any problem. The worst that could happen is you get one that developes a taste for coral and you have to return or trade it in. I personally would take the chance to have a fish like that in my display, and I plan on adding one to my reef!

Thanks for the advice..........I think I will take my chances as well. If things go bad I will return him.

I might also add, keeping them well fed seems to help to keep them from developing a coral appetite.
