re-curing live rock
A friend of mine is giving me his Marshall Island LR that he had in his tank.
Here's the catch. He hasn't had his tank set up for a while. I'm not sure how long. He lost his last fish, so he turned off the filter and pump, the light burned out and he didn't want to run it anymore. But he kept the water in the tank.
So now this LR has been sitting in salt water for a while, but with no filtration or water movement or lighting. I know I can't just stick it in my tank, but what do I need to do to get it ready for my tank?
Will it still have anything left to it, or is it likely just wet rock now? I plan to put it in a tub of RO water with an airstone until the water levels out, but is that going to even be necessary if there's nothing left on it anymore? If there's nothing really on it, would it be beneficial to put another piece of LR in with it to help stimulate it to regrow?
