Raising Tang Heaven

I would like to know if anyone has successfully raised / grown Tang Heaven and the details of how it was accomplished. I am dying to order some but would like to get a little "farm" setup first. And I am very interested in developing a renewable live food source before purchasing my dream fish.

I started a previous thread that I now see was a bit off target from what I really needed to know.

TIA.

I havent tried raising the Gracilaria(sp) but a lot of people have reported less the success with keeping it going. I did see where someone had a algae filter going that used bio balls before the water entered the growing area to raise nitrates to feed the algae. Its possible that with efficient liverock and sand that macro algae might not get enuff nutrients to flourish. Hopefully some one else can share more successful story

I had no luck with growing tang heaven although I do fine with caluerpa, and some of the other macroalgaes(Don't know thier names) . I just found Nori in a local health food store and love that. (Tangs do too) If I understand the Ron Shimek's article, Nori looks to be a good sourse of nutrition.

Some sites to Review about Tang Heaven.
http://www.globaldialog.com/~jrice/a.../red_algae.htm
(which is referenced on ISPF's Site)

"9) I'm a hobbyist. If at first I don't succeed, then what?

These are very forgiving species, but if "the worst" happens, email us for technical advice. And remember, at any time you can start up a new Tang Heaven farm with healthy, genetically selected starter stocks from Indo-Pacific Sea Farms."

Gerald is VERY helpful, he is obviously doing this for a living, so he has to have some tips on how to grow it, give him an email @ indopac@aol.com
