Quiet Pumps For Sump

Hello,

I just installed a Quiet One 3000 pump and it is LOUD! I have heard that this pump is really quiet but I can here it across my basement. Is this normal?

Does anyone know of any ACTUAL Quiet Pumps.

Thanks!

Mike

You want an inline or submersible pump? Inline, I think the velocity is supposed to be quiet (someone help me here). Submersible, the Eheim and ocean runner are supposed to be quiet.

I've got a mag 18 (return) and mag 7 (skimmer) submerged in my sump, and I can't hear either one (they're in my living room). They work great if you ask me, though I've heard other stories from other folks.

I use a submerged mag 12 for return and I can not hear it. I used to have a mag 36 on a closed loop that was very loud. I now run a sequence dart that is nearly silent.

Hope this helps.

Mag drives are hit or miss. I have a mag 7 and it is frikin loud. The mag 7 is known to be the loudest of all the mags, BTW. I bought an Eheim pump but haven't hooked it up yet.

blueline velocity pumps.
you can not hear that it's running, until you put your ear against it... and then you burn your ear.

If you put some kind of padding on the pump or suspend it by the outlet hose it will be a lot softer, a lot of the noise comes from the pump vibrating against the glass.

I agree by far that the velocity pump is the best. I have the t1 on a 37 tall and you cannot even tell it is running. Great pump but you will need a chiller!!

just installed a Velocity T3 on my set-up, as per Geoff's recommendation...

and I gotta be honest...to say this pump is quiet is a HUGE understatement!

I have put my ear right up against it, and still can barely hear it. SOOOOO quiet!

and I've heard people complain about the heat this things produce, but so far, my chiller's been running LESS than when I had the Mag 7 on there (the pump this one replaced). So I'm convinced it produces less heat than the Mag pump!

Good pressure pump too! Very happy with it.

as for your pump making that much noise...I'd double check things. Sounds like maybe there's some air in the line? or the impeller's not seated correctly? Shouldn't be that loud.
