Quick question about fragging mushrooms.
I was going to take a stab at some mushrooms this afternoon and I don't have any rubble to use but was wondering if it would be ok to use some of the old snail and crab shells that I have on the bottom of my tank.
Thanks, Brad
I plan on taking a bunch of pictures and doing a DIY as well so maybe some folks that are unsure about it will give it a shot.

Pantihose. You will want to buy some panti hose to use and help mount your mushrooms. Tie it over the mushroom and it will attach within a day or so. Then just pull your pantihose off the rock....and you have a shroom ready to go.

And I have never tried this.....But I have heard of people using blenders.....or a chopper. Chop it up into about 10-15 pieces....put it in a rubble pile of live rock....with little to no flow. Within a few days all the pieces have taken on to the rubble and you have hundreds of new shrooms.

I put netting over mine - not pantyhose though. I use fine mesh fabric that I bought at the fabric store for like .50 a yard. I cut a head of my shroom, cut it into quarters (watch for the juice!) trying to get a bit of the mouth in each one. Then I net those down to the rock and let them sit for a couple of weeks. Works great!

The problem with a blender - The mushroom frag only grows if it has part of the mouth of the original mushroom, so make sure you get a piece of the mouth. To attach to rocks i heard to cut them then put them in some tupperware in your tank or your frag tank with mesh over the top of the tupperware with some rubble or shells in the tupperware and no flow so that it attaches to the shells or rubble in a couple days.

You can buy rubble rock from a lot of rock sellers. They sell it a LOT cheaper then live rock. marco rocks has rubble rock you can buy. Reeftanker3295, ive cut pieces of my shroom off and they grow fine without a mouth. I did that with the frag I have now of my giant hairy mushroom. Once it gets big enough to frag....ill throw it in a blender and see how well it works.

my friend gave me a tubberware container with rockr rubble in the bottom and shredded mushrooms on top, none of them survived or adleast i found after 2 weeks
ide try cutting it like a pizza and attached them to rocks with mesh or some fabric and wait a week then remove it
