Questions On "closed Loop" For New Tank.........

I have a new Tank on the way and would like info.
on this if possible.........

L60" x W36" x H28 (Acrylic) SPS, Clams Primarily
and (2) Corner Overflows for this..

Thinking of (2) 1 1/2" Bulkheads in Rear....
Ampmaster 3000 for this.
I will be using (4) 3/4" Seaswirls possibly on this..
It was mentioned to me to think about going with
(2) ampmasters on this. One per (2) Seaswirls.
(Lots of flow!!)

Should I think about more Bulkheads on this as well (less suction etc.??)

Any info. would be Appreciated!!
BTW- Another Option I am considering is going with
a "Spears" motorized ball Valves on this as well.

If Markstr would be so kind as to let me a dd an additional closed loop question: Instead of bulkheads taking water directly from the tank, could you use a large (coast-to-coast) overflow box to pull the water from?

Sure, you can feed it that way, but not sure if thats technically a closed loop then. Depending on the flow rate noise may become an issue as well as bubbles introduced, I think thats a reason for having the intakes submerged, theoretically the whole loop stays wet so no air is introduced into it. Does that make sense?

Mark mark mark you are the only guy I know that has upgraded from a 55 to a 90 to a 260 without anyof the tanks ever seeing water
To try to throw some ideas at in regards to your question. I personaly dont think the 4 seaswirls will give a tank that size the flow it needs, also swirls tend to be ineffective when it comes to flowing the lower areas of the tank. If you have 2 3000 this is what I would do.
1. create a closed loop and have the outputs enter the lower parts of the reef (say a couple inches above the DSB) have these outputs (say around 6 using locline) blow into the back of the rocks and through them in an upward direction.
2. create another closed loop to span the top of the tank. again outputing through locline, with the exception of using a motorized ball valve to split 5 outputs per side of the valve. this way you will get a good random flow from either side to the valve and a solid flow from under and behing the rocks to keep the deterious from building up thier.

Again MArk it depends on how much mula you want to spend and what u already have. If you want give me a call and I can hepl you design it.

Oh yea Gopher I would highly discourage from doing a system like you discribed, if nothing else for the amount of bubbles you willl be putting into the tank.
