Questions on anemone and needs...
I am thinking of getting an anemone and want to know what special needs it may need... I just want to use the experience from all you reefers with anemones... I was thinking about maybe an RBTA... I have tons of t5ho lighting... Anything quirks you've noticed about the particular likes and dislikes of your personal anemone?? Thanks...

If you can, take it in your hand and try to get it to stick to a rock away from corals because they can sting your corals, my anemone always was good just stayed in the center and ate food when i fed it and today i got a purple long tentacled anemone

My first question would be how old is your tank? Many will say the tank should be atleast one year old some say 6 months. I waited 6 months to add my anemone. A good stable system is a must.

3 years ago my LFS said all I needed was a Corallife 130 watt PC light and feed my BTA once a month to keep it a live, while knowing my tank was only 2 months old.
I knew nothing and bought it.
Poor guy was bleached like a white shirt and I didn't have the right light.
After much advice on here I put the anemone in the top 8 inches of my water column and fed him only when we wanted to eat some silverslides. At first I fed him every 2 days then once a month.
fast forward 2 years and it regained color and finally split before I gave it away.
One note though, although it gained its color back, it never did bulb up.
Under T5's I think you will be okay. Just make sure it looks healthy and your water is good quality and in my opinion they are pretty easy to take care of. Regular water changes, occasional feeding, and good light wil make them thrive

I've been nursing one since I bought it back in October of 08 . He's still not right yet . Be sure your ready for the care of a BTA . They are wonderful tank inhabitants but need special care to thrive

Hang in there and it will pull through. If it hasn't died yet you are doing something right.
I didn't get good color until about the 1 year mark and then the growth blew up. I think we were both in the same situation.
What lights do you have now? How often does it like to eat now?
When mine starting getting healthy it refused to eat more than once a month. I would give it food and it would spit it out. But if I waited a month it would gobble it down no problem
Good luck buddy!

Thanks for the advice... My tank is almost 5 months old... I'm glad you said something about that... I do know someone who has a nem that put it in about a month old... It's doing good... used to move around alot and split but one of them got caught in a powerhead or something... Found pieces of it all over the place... I was supposed to get one... My water has been really good... I dose cal. and mag. My ph was low but I used some buffer and has been at 8.2 ever since... about a month... Like I said I have t5 lights... I have 5 54watt bulbs in... I have the Nova Extreme 8x54 but was losing color in some corals and(after seing people recommend 4 or 6x54 for 75 and 90gal tank)decided to take a few bulbs out and see if that helped... So far so good... Plan on waiting a bit for the nem(really until I find one I like) but I'm thinking about some kind of BTA... Maybe RBTA... they are cool...

Just because it worked for some does not necessarily mean its the right thing to do. I wonder how many other anemones died in a similar situation.

Nems that move around alot are not happy. Splitting can also be a sign of stress not good health.

Really... I figured the moving around part... I think her nem hasn't moved in 6 or 8 weeks... I guessed it was trying to find a good spot... But I didn't know the splitting was a sign of stress... hmmm... Interesting... Learn something new all the time eh... When you guys talk about tank being stable what are you talking about... Nitrates, Ammonia, Nitrites... or more Ph and Alk?? or all of the above.. I haven't had any water issues in a month or two except haveing to dose Cal, and Mag...
