questions for new reef tank "skimmer"

I'm buying a new skimmer but for now i have a seaclone, the one that makes the tornado thing. i know i know , but it came with the tank. i have it running now while I'm cycling the tank it's a hang on and the bubbles are going into the tank is that ok? also i was reading a thred before and saw alot of good coments on the EuroReef ES5-2 i have a 58gallon tank which is what he put that skimmer on . should i go for that one or something else? It's been 1 week today and I'm getting some yellow and alittle bit of green on my sand is this ok ?

You can't go wrong with a Euro- Reef! Sounds like things are progressing normally to me!

Thank you jenn, what about the bubbles going into the tank from the skimmer?

Could be a "break in" thing for the skimmer. A common complaint with the 'clone. Should subside soon.

You could take a look at a Tunze.

I use a Tunze 3115/2 which will happily handle up to a 400ltr
tank. It's not cheap (over here in the UK anyway) but Tunze
do have a very good reputation for reliability and mine does
seem to be doing a very good job!

Hope this helps.

Ian

folks get tired of hearing me say this, but Andy's skimmers at MyReefCreations are superior skimmers for the money (check his web site) and may be customized to your circumstances. Much less than the high end skimmers and they skim the "poop" out of the water column.

I have been gradually changing all my systems over to these. Great investment and great performance, worth me making the change.

I agree that Andy makes great stuff (I've got a calcium reactor and his smallest skimmer) but his stuff is, I think, for bigger tanks, as I have the skimmer on my 70 temporarily as I change over to a 150 and I've had major problems with heat, something I didn't have with the Urchin C that I had on the tank originally.

I replaced two beckett skimmers with EuroReefs and never looked back. Couldn't be happier and neither will you if you buy ER.
