Questions about RO system
Hey all im looking into getting an RO system, i wanna stop using tap water for my top offs and water changes and i hate having to go to my LFS to get water.
So anyways im trying to be as inexpensive in this area as i can be but id still like to make sure it would meet my needs for my freshly setup 55g future SPS tank.
How important is the Deionized part?
Would just using RO water be ok?
What do you think about this system?

with sps......important. The one your looking at wont do enough for you, go with airwaterandice. Your going to get the best deal there. I HAD a unit under my sink.......and after new fittings new lines new membranes and effort put into it cleaning it.......I may as well had bought a new one. This is more of what your going to want to use. I use a 4 stage, sediment/5 micron carbon block/1 micron carbon block/RO and I have a DI.......but I dont have it hooked up right now. I would seariously consider saving up and buying this one. Its WELL worth it.

And the reason I dont like the one on ebay......its only got one stage.......a 1 micron. It will clog quickly.......and 1 micron membranes are expensive, so your going to want to filter more before that.... Trying to save you money in the long run.

You need to have at least a 5 stage RODI, 3 prefilters and an RO membrane plus a vertical DI.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

They have a couple of minor issues...
Mine hasn't but some have had leaks and had to use teflon plumbing tape.
The DI chambers are horizontal and need to be made vertical, very easy fix.
So they have some minor issues but put out just as good of water as pricey setups so for me it was the way to go. I know I am not the only TRTer to have one.

If they are horizontal the resin develops channels. Water follows the path of least resistence, you will get water flowing through the channel and not having 0 TDS.

airwaterandice! I bought the Typhoon III with DI it cost $350 you don't need to go as expensive. But if I fill 350 gallons of water for my personal consumption, it's already paid for itself!
